Key speakers confirmed for FST 2014

The Faculty of Surgical Trainers (FST) has announced the names of key speakers for this year’s annual conference. ‘Who Makes the Cut? Assessment in Surgical Training’ will take place at the RCSEd on Wednesday 22 October 2014, with a speaker lineup that already includes an impressive range of experts in training and assessment.

Confirmed speakers are:

• Professor John Norcini, one of the world’s foremost experts on the assessment of physician performance
• Dr Stephen Yule, Harvard Medical School – an expert on the assessment of non-technical skills in surgeons
• Mr William Allum, Surgical Director of the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum Project and Consultant Upper GI surgeon at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust
• Professor Jonathan Beard, Professor of Surgical Education at RCSEng and Consultant Vascular Surgeon at the Sheffield Vascular Institute
