We are pleased to announce the winners of the FST/ASME educational research grant. This year again saw some excellent applications for the annual grant with two research proposals inseparable by the panel. Awards have therefore been made to Karin Baatjes and Aimee Charnell.Â
Professor Baatjes head of the division of Clinical Anatomy at Stellenbosch University, Cape Town. She will be evaluating how trainees and examiners experience video assisted structured oral assessments- both face-to-face and online.
Ms Charnell is a general surgery fellow in Leeds currently undertaking a PhD in medical education. The focus of her project will be looking at the elements that influence surgical trainees’ learning in surgical outpatient clinics.
Both projects should provide valuable information for educating and training the surgeon of today. We wish them well with their research and look forward to them presenting at a future Faculty of Surgical Trainers meeting.
Due to essential systems maintenance and upgrades there will be interruptions to some on-line services on Saturday 19th of August.
